The countdown is on! The 2026 Durango Blues Train rolls out August 20–22, and we can't wait to welcome you aboard for three unforgettable nights of live blues music, stunning mountain scenery, and an experience unlike anything else in Colorado.
Whether you're a first-time passenger or a returning rider, here's everything you need to know before you board.
Before You Arrive
The Durango Blues Train is a rain-or-shine event, so be prepared for changing mountain weather.
Late August in Durango typically brings warm daytime temperatures in the upper 70s to mid-80s, with cool evenings in the 50s. Since the train climbs into the mountains and two of the railcars are open-air gondolas, temperatures can feel significantly cooler once you're underway.
We recommend bringing:
A light jacket or hoodie
Rain jacket, just in case
Comfortable layers
Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes (strongly recommended)
Hat and sunglasses for boarding
Please note that sandals and flip-flops are not recommended for safety and comfort.
Getting to the Depot
The Durango Blues Train departs from the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Depot located at: 479 Main Avenue, Durango, CO 81301
If you're driving, check current Colorado road conditions before traveling.
Parking
Blues Train parking is available next to the rail yard at the corner of U.S. Highway 550 and College Drive, just west of McDonald's.
Parking fees:
Cars, trucks and motorcycles: $10/day
RVs, buses, trailers or oversized vehicles: $20/day
Parking fees are collected per day.
Box Office & Wristband Exchange
Your ticket must be exchanged for a wristband before boarding the train.
Box Office Hours: 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Location: Pop-up tent directly in front of the Train Depot (479 Main Avenue)
To avoid long lines before departure, we strongly recommend arriving early and picking up your wristband well before boarding begins.

Boarding Begins: 6:30 PM
Train Departs: 7:00 PM sharp
The train cannot wait for late arrivals.
The Durango Blues Train is approximately 3.5 hours round-trip. While departure is fixed, return times are approximate depending on railroad operations.
Food Before the Train
We recommend enjoying dinner before boarding.
Historic Downtown Durango is home to dozens of fantastic restaurants, breweries and bars, all within walking distance of the depot.
One of our longtime favorites is: 2nd Deli & Spirits
Just a short three-minute walk from the depot, 2nd Deli & Spirits offers delicious hot and cold sandwiches, cocktails, wine, local craft beer and a relaxed atmosphere—perfect before your evening ride.
Drinks & Snacks On Board
Come thirsty! Concession cars will be open throughout the ride with a great selection of beverages and snacks available for purchase.

Center gondola bar accepts credit cards.
Open-air coach bars are cash only.
Ride Responsibly
